The Judgment Seat of Vikramaditya

                                              The Judgment Seat of Vikramaditya

Introduction
This story is written by Sister Nivedita. It tells us about justice, truth, and a great king named Vikramaditya.

About Ujjain
The story takes place in Ujjain. It is an old and peaceful city. The atmosphere is very Indian. We see cows grazing in the fields. In the evening, there is the “hour of cow dust,” when cows return home, and dust rises in the air. It is calm and beautiful.

About Vikramaditya
King Vikramaditya was a wise and just ruler. He always gave fair judgments. People respected him for his honesty and wisdom. Even after his death, his name was remembered for justice.

Shepherd Boys and the Judgment Seat
One day, some shepherd boys were playing near a mound. They found a special seat (The Judgment Seat of Vikramaditya). When one boy sat on it, he began to solve problems wisely. He could judge cases like a king. All the boys were surprised at his knowledge.

The King and the Chair
The king of that time heard about this. He wanted the chair for his palace. So, he ordered it to be brought. But when he tried to sit on it, each marble statue on the chair began to speak. They told stories about Vikramaditya’s greatness. They did not allow the king to sit on the chair.

Conclusion
At last, the king understood an important lesson. Only a person with a pure heart, wisdom, and honesty can give true justice. The chair belonged only to a great king like Vikramaditya.
